I just got an e-mail from Blogger and it seems that they're shutting down FTP support for their blogs on the 22nd. What does that mean for the Mechs? Well, no more Blogger, that's what it means! I'm pretty annoyed by it since I had to make a whole new layout that accounted for Blogger's backwards policy of uploading actual HTML files onto the site (rather than have database support or something). It was tricky and annoying, but it was done. And now it's over. Ah, well. Look forward to a new blog format in the near future.

In the meantime, this last post from Blogger will feature some more art from the archives of Gauntlet! It seems I missed a couple of gift art things as well (sorry, guys!). Well, here they are, alongside some more 'Maniacs art.

Top feels bad that nobody notices he changedback to his TM armor. Y'know, since the 8-bit sprite looks almost exactly the same as his previous look. Once more, using some old gift art submissions to do the comic.

Well, it's been a while since I updated the site. I hope you've all been enjoying the holidays as much as I have. Mostly it's been quiet. I've been spending this time at home, but this year we're all watching various DVDs and sitting by the fireplace. Very old fashioned, but very nice. I stuck a bunch of used dental floss and ear cleaners and some old scrap pieces of paper into a toilet paper tube (three of them) and watched it burn. My garbage burns brightly!

We watched Watchmen (Extended version, which my Mom hated. A LOT. The Spirit, which my Dad loved to pieces. District 9 which everyone enjoyed. And Julie and Julia, which was not really my type of movie, but alright nonetheless. All the movies, except for the Julie one were Christmas presents.

So happy 2010, everyone! It's hard to believe 2009 is just a memory. But it is. Now we have a whole new year to write as we choose. So let's write something nice.

One thing I couldn't figure out until now was how to get the music from Rockman Strategy. Until now. This zip contains every single music track in the entire game converted to MP3 format. Sadly I can't figure out which song is for whom. Still, they are all there for your listening pleasure. Maybe one day someone will come to me with a list or something.

Oh my, it looks like something broke there.

This is one update long in the making. Made in Flash CS4, which is atrociously slow. So slow that it stalled this video for many, many months. A recent update made it fast enough to use and, after I got it, finished this within mere weeks. Although this was made in Flash, large, LARGE use of bitmaps made parts of this choppy on the first run. So I converted it to an avi for viewing. Incidentally, this is the "secret project" I mentioned on Deviant Art a while back.

A tribute to one of the last games in the entire Megaman series that probably deserves it: Megaman 3 PC. Misfits and Mistakes. Regular and Meatwad versions.

Yes, the 'Maniacs Moments shall continue, even in the face of a real update!

Yes, it's the last of my pirate game backlog. It took 5 segments, but we are finally throught he woods on these pirate games.

7 in 1 - Featuring a whole bunch of .... gameboy games?

Megaman & Bass - I've included the real box here as well. The pirates did a passable job with this one - even copying the Nintendo seal of quality! - but I don't remember Zero ever being in this game. Evidently it's a "Bass-xtreme" situation that only Megaman Bass can resolve! I guess the translators didn't know what the ampersand symbol means.

Rockman "Game" - Yeah, so this one has no name. But it's apparently Rockman World 1.

Megaman Battle Network 5 Team Protoman - Found on Protodude's blog. Now, just look at it and try to spot the mistake.

13 in 1 - Despite the Megaman and Bass art and the Battle Network art, this multicart onlt has classi series games. False advertising on a pirate game? Say it ain't so!

Super 6 in 1 - Yeah, another one. It looks like a better repackaging of the first Super 6 in 1. I didn't know Protoman and Bass surivied to the X timeline....

5 in 1 - Look out, Wily! Megaman's gonna kill you!!! Where are your predacious rules now, Asimov?!

and, finally ...

Megaman Soccer (PC) - Megaman ... Soccer? Of all the SNES Megaman games they could have stolen, they went with ... Megaman Soccer? And with that box art!?

Here's something I've received a request or two (or one) about - the Design a Villain contest!

I have to admit ..... I've been negligent on announcing things on this. I thought I already did announce it, but .... no.

So, a winner has been decided upon! And the winner is ....

Yes, that's right. You'll have to wait until Wanted comes out to discover who the winner actually is. However, the winner has been contacted and knows he/she won. Rich is still working on the prize. So, if you weren't contacted, you didn't win, but I thank you for participating.

What is up, however, is all the entries for the contest. So you can browse all the loathsome villains made for the contest.

In other news ..... I found some old stuff while going on my incessant search for some way of recovering the first Hardman's bio (a thorn in my side for a LONG time). Skullman's bio has been found! (The one he did for Megaman United). He got this site started and now his bio is up on the special thanks page. I also found the ORIGINAL bio for Topman, who was the webmaster here very briefly before I took over. Sadly I didn't find Hardman's bio.

The archive of the first layout has been updated with the original files I found on a CD (which had Top's bio). The one on the site was a reconstruction I made base don my memory..... this is MUCH closer to the truth! Although I did change it to be more of a medium from where the site first started but before I fully took over and added a background image and took off the background MIDIs. Newbies take note: there is hope for you. Just look how much better I got at this. Don't get discouraged.

Some (one) person has asked about 'Maniacs Moments not being updated. The answer is simple. Hard hasn't sent me any new ones. Send Hard some fan mail to get him motivated. But, unlike me, Hard has a life so unimportant things like jobs and girls get in the way of his work. Yeah, I know ..... for shame.

Of course I don't actually have anything to update today .... except for the newest Mechanical Maniacs Moment .... but I am announcing I am back.

In addition I'm announcing that I'm helping to get the Sinister Six some updates. They've been in a real rut, so I'm filling in on posting some of Iceman's old epilogues. Watch for them! This ... I command!

An EPILOGUE update? By LENNON!?

It's TRUE! In a bold move he's actually continuing his stories! They are hurtling towards the end of his story arc. Hurtling slowly, but steadily. Read it NOW!

Also, in a move that will not be repeated EVER, Needlegal has changed her name from KittyKat to Psycho Magnet. KittyKat being her moniker when she was new and didn't really care much about it which is used only here and Psycho being a long-held name for the last .... three or so years which she uses everywhere. Every single reference to this has been updated (thank YOU, Adobe GoLive).

During updates some files (notable, three epilogues) were lost ..... well, they were found and restored to the site. Yay. Go me.

Also in ep news, due to Classi's request her epilogue has been taken down until part two is finished. Let's hope it's soon! (it was a good story). Everyone go bug her! (sarcasm, people)

I've been REALLY busy with my comic and REALLY got into watching an anime called Bleach. But I still got time to update a bit with some user submission stuff!

Okay, so .... first up: miscellaneous images have been uploaded. Woo hoo. I love getting images so keep sendin' 'em.

Real Life Wilys sees an update. Wow. That's a section I never - EVER expect an update from.

The Pirate Sprite Sheets sees a tiny update. Zan Sidera submitted some sprites of the tree guy and the red hero guy from Rockman DX3, so those sprites have been added in. Originally for Sprites INC too, but I whined about it a whole bunch (it's been a bad year or so) and Ace, being the gentleman that he is, let me have the game for my own coverage (since I have already covered it). So Zan let me put these up as they were originally for S. INC. So, thanks guys.

Wow, I haven't had an update like this in AGES!

First off the next winner of the 'Maniacs Moments contest is Kaos! Congrats. PR references for teh win.

Next up is an all new article.Rocman X VS Thunder Blast Man. Not only have I compared both games, but I actually *won* Rocman X and have gone into extreme detail on the ending.

The Gauntlet Sprites page has been updated with an all-new sprite picture featuring every single Megaman character (that has an official sprite) to date! It was *very* tough and annoying to make, but now I can update it easily should I choose to do so.

The Wallpapers section also has a big update. That's one section I don't update too often. This time from tiny project I recently finished up.

First off .... Happy Canada day to all the Canucks out there!

Secondly, the first winner of our 'Maniacs Moments contest is Ace Spark of Sprites INC! Congrats on his really amazing custom sprites! Keep on submitting your own entries - this contest is ongoing! There's no limit on how many times you can submit to the contest!

Also, more screens from the Megaman Cell Phone games have been added. Including one from a Christmas version of Kobun Flies. The mystery of the bigger NES screenshots has also been solved - it's just a better version of the game O_o. No lie. There's a 100K version and a 256K version.

Quint, of Sprites INC also informs me that the "Megaman Mania" screens with boarders use something called "GP Player", so that bit of info has been added to the Misc. Classic Mysteries article.

I didn't think there could possibly be more to say about Megaman 3, but I was wrong. There's still some minutia to go over! A bit of the article was re-written as well as sadding more about unused stuff and various tidbits of factual knowledge gleamed from the rom.

Geez, if only the rest of the series was this interesting to go over! Then, maybe, more would get done.

Hardman's 'Maniacs Moments are now up to 150! Of course the zip he gave me ends at 151, soooo .... well, hope he cobbles up some more!

Also redid the banner a bit to reflect the festive occasion! Oh, yes .... very festive indeed!

Welp, the quizzes and 'Maniacs Moments sections still need some work, but I do have some new content in the way of more Pirate Sprite Sheets. These ones from Rockman DX3, one of the roms offered in the Gauntlet Art Contest.

As you may have noticed Planet-Megaman got it's .com address back! Unfortunately there's a slight case of schizophrenia involved ..... meaning our .com account has a space of it's own separate from the .org account! Weird. Well, I've set up a forwarding address to point anyone coming from the .com address here. Hopefully this problem can be resolved soon.

As for PMM, Heat is getting impatient with the situation. The backups should be arriving next week and if they don't Heat's thinking of just restoring everything from our backups.

Update to the update: I've taken the time to re-organise the Mechanical Maniacs Moments. They're organised a little differently now, but it's closer to a regular sprite comic, so it works out.

As for this site, I've done a few internal reorganizations, but it should all be functioning as well as before. Except for the Mechanical Maniacs Moments, while are completely messed up, and the quizzes which ought to be hosted on-site anyway.

However, I do have an update! Check out the Nintendo Power Image Gallery for Megaman 2 image madness. There's even some new Megaman, Wily, and enemy images so check out the last few of those to see some new ..... and crappy stuff!

The Unnamed has another chapter added to it. Just one this time, but what a chapter it is! Also, an out of continuity side story was written by Hardman has also been added.

And, hey! Mechanical Maniacs Moments has reached number 100! Who knew something made just to be part of a crown would reach 100 episodes? Congratulations, Hard!

Merry Christmas, all! Christmas is here and everyone has the day off including your humble narrator. But, fear not. Hard has constructed a 'Maniacs Moments oversized holiday comic, so that should fill you with holiday cheer! That and whatever peasants you got.

This update was mostly done to touch up the sprite comic that on our main page every single time you visit!

I've made it so that the page that lists the moments is now navagatable. It's set up just like Sprite's INC and hopefully, that'll work just fine.

Next the Moments will be going bi-weekly. Meaning two times a week!

As you can see the Mechanical Maniacs Moments are back! We got a healthy supply in reserve now so there's little fear of them dying on us again. Thanks, Hard.

The Image Gallery is once more seeing new updates. This time in the "other" image gallery section. We have a few pieces of new gif art as well as quite a few official images .... including one for GAMMA! That's right the peace keeping robot himself premiers right here!

Lastly, but now least, are two more chapters of the Unnamed! They're short, but sweet. Well, at least IMO.

I think I'll go with old 'Maniacs Moments for a couple weeks. For now anyway.

Updates for this week include an addition to the Sprite Tutorial which now covers how to use paint to recolour sprite sheets and actually capturing sprites. I must say I'm disappointed more people couldn't figure this out for themselves. But now my tutorial covers this as well, listing a program most sprinters use to capture sprites.

Another addition is a brand new epilogue. Another by Geminiman this one is inspired by Cowboy Bebop.

Okay, allot of business to go through this update. First off, the Snakeman opening. You know, with the last opening (Magnetman and Sparkman), I got so few responses I was beginning to question my popularity, however since opening the Snake position I got a landslide of applicants. Go figure. However, during this I have learned one important thing: if you do not ask people to say what they're good at, they will not put it in their application. Here, I just sorta assumed people would do that. Well, you know what they say about assumptions! That said, we're not accepting anymore applications. We'll let everyone know who got the position soon.

Next business: the forum. When I got back from vacation, I got a nasty surprise: the forum was gone! Y'see Sigmah, our host, has a bunch of server troubles that he cannot fix himself. He's already doing temporary fixes at MVN and UMMF, but he can't temp. fix MMU because of the high traffic. SO, in the meantime we're stuck! I might set up some temporary forums until his server troubles are fixed, but until then the forums' down.

And now some good news! Our new Hardman has set up an online mini-comic! Look for the link in the right frame. They're actually funny, so head over for a look-see.

Now, don't let the lack of content updates fool you, we're very busy here at the MM3 team. One project includes new Series 4 epilogues! Ooooo, betcher excited now! What, did you think that little setback at the end of Series 3 would actually stop us? *pheh*
