Chapter 4, Mega Man gets stoned

With Number defeated, Higsby will regain his senses and you'll be able to reboot the school computer. Now it's on to the next mission. As you leave the school you'll probably notice all the kids that want to trade chips with you now, you can handle them later. You might as well go straight to the metro, except once you exit the school, jack into the principal's car to find another HPmemory and try to get some Soniwave chips to replace your Shockwaves from the mets you fight in there. When you go to the metroline, you'll notice that something's wrong with it and you can't use it. What to do then? Well, as if on cue, you'll get a challenge from Dex as you leave the station, it's time to fight Gutsman again. Note: If Dex doesn't contact you when you leave the station, go into the net and go to the eastern end of the area and examine the link (Not the ACCESS panel, the link at the end of the road), when you go outside again, you should get the mail. When you talk to Dex he'll say he'll fight you for Recov50 L, it's in Mayl's keyboard next to her @Mayl, so if you don't have it you'd better find it there.

Boss Battle: Gutsman EXE again
HP= 400
Speed= medium
Movement= all enemy tiles, random teleport

He may seem a bit tougher this time, but you'll find him easier than Number was. Since you probably had to take revov50 L out of your folder to fight Guts, you might as well replace it with X-panel 3 if you don't have it in there already, since Guts uses all ground based attacks, it could come in quite handy.

With Guts defeated, you'll be awarded with both the "/Dex" access and the Gutsman summon chip. With the access you'll be able to get through the path at the far upper-right area of the net, if you already bookmarked Dex's computer, you might as well take a shortcut and jack in to Dex's computer and go through there, otherwise you'll probably have to take the long way straight from Lan's house. The trip won't be so bad though, while you're in the first area of the net, you can use your extra cash to buy a hammer from the merchant there, the hammer can break the stone cubes that Stoneman will use on you (which really isn't that useful, but you might as well get the chip eventually anyway). You may also run into Fireman at the far left corner of the area, a navi at the entrance will warn you about this, so don't go freaking out because it must be some glitch, this is actually the only way you can get the Fireman summon chip, the same thing will happen with other navis that you don't have direct access to fight anywhere. When you fight Fireman in the net though, you can rest confidently in the knowledge that your performance won't affect your chances of getting the chip, you won't have to go away empty handed just because your busting level was 2.

Once in area 2 of the net, a nearby navi will give you some vague directions. Just go left and you'll be in the general direction of Stoneman, going right will lead to links that you can get later.

Boss Battle: Stoneman EXE
HP= 600
Speed= none
Movement= confined to middle row, far right column

This guy starts by creating a stone block somewhere in your area, it doesn't really do anything, but it's supposedly supposed to hinder your attacking somehow, too bad there's no way it could do that unless it were in the middle row, far right column of your area, but usually it's somewhere off to the side where it can't bother you, he'll switch block positions every now and then in the fight, by creating a new one, followed a second later by the destruction of the old one. His main attack pattern is to pound the ground, causing 3 boulders to drop in random places, their shadows appear where they fall, so you should be able to dodge everything pretty easy. When you get him down to about 200 HP he may sink his "arms" (if that's what you can call them) into the ground, one will then rise up somewhere now sporting a funny looking face and fire a powerful beam straight forward, but it has plenty of delay for you to dodge it. Another great thing about fighting Stone is that he doesn't phase very easily, meaning you can hit him with a powerful attack and then keep hitting with your buster, he's not like Number and Guts and the other wimps that have to be invulnerable for several seconds after they've been hit. He does do it, but you need a really powerful attack, Fireman does 100 damage, and that phases him, but nothing else you have at the time will probably do it. Stoneman is basically summed up as being powerful but slow.

When you're done with Stone, jack out and head back to the metroline, the rest of this mission isn't even much of a mission. Inside the government complex you'll find out that that lousy father of Lan's isn't there. Geeze, the guy doesn't spend any time at work or any time with his family, what DOES he do all day? Anyway, Jack into his computer and talk to the little program, it will take a message, now just go home and when you get back to ACDC Dad will respond all of a sudden. At least you'll get a nifty powerup out of it.

Before you go to sleep there are a few places you can jack into you might want to look at: two vending machines in the government complex, a TV in the government complex, the supercomputer in Dad's office, and Sal's lunchbox, and then there's Sal, you can fight her now or later, it would be easier later when you get more fire based attacks, but you might as well get it over with now anyway.

Yet another Boss Battle: Woodman EXE
HP= 500
Speed= medium
Movement= all enemy tiles, random hopping

Woodman could be your hardest battle yet. His powerful attacks aren't quite as annoying as his ability to heal. He starts off by making a random hop somewhere on the board, then three or more stumps will pop up under your feet at random locations, it's sorta like Stoneman here except you have less time to dodge. He ends his hopping spree with a big jump then he sticks his hands into the ground and makes the stumps pop out a few more times, except they seem faster. The final part of his cycle is to throw seeds at you that turn into either a tree that makes an apple that greatly heals woodman, or a very fast Wood tower attack. It can be really irritating, but keep trying and you can win access to /Sal, which can lead you to a place to buy Wood Armour, which will double your defence for everything except fire.
